Kline Swinney Associates was honored to provide architectural services to the City of Smyrna for the memorial dedicated to Captain Jeff Kuss who lost his life in a tragic in-flight accident while flying in practice for the Great Tennessee Airshow. A Blue Angel F/A-18C Hornet was installed at the Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial at Lee Victory Recreation Park. A 350-ton crane was used to place the aircraft weighing 21,600 pounds on the memorial pedestal 18 feet above finish grade. The 7,501 sf plaza includes seating, planters, and 20 foot tall flagpoles. The airplane and flagpoles are illuminated from below.
